Recently I had to figure out how to move Libsyn Podcast Hosting to another person. My original thought was I could just change all the account and billing info to my friend who was going to be taking over the monthly podcast hosting fees with Libsyn, but this isn't the case.
If you happen to need to switch or move podcast hosting to someone else, this is basically how it needs to work if you host your podcast with Libsyn;
- Contact Support – Let them know someone else will be taking over the libsyn podcast hosting.
- Close Your Show – You cancel the show in your account. Dont' worry your MP3 files will still be there depending on how days you have until the next billing cycle.
- New Podcaster Contacts Libsyn – The new person who will be taking over the podcast, or just paying for it, will have to contact Libsyn and say they want the MP3 files and data pushed into their Libsyn account.
Let me know if this is at all confusing or doesn't make sense in the comments and I'll try to explain better. I've tried to explain in as few steps and as simply as I can. It should be noted I contacted Libsyn support and this is what they said they need to do to protect all parties involved. This makes sense as I can keep my account with Libsyn and can start another podcast, while the new podcaster has access to the all the files in their account.
Oh, by the way this isn't the end of my podcasting days but sort of the beginning. I'm planning on starting another podcast related to webmastering and related topics. Pretty excited about it and I already have guests lined up. The money I was spending on this other podcast I'm going to be putting this new venture which as always I hope will be a success.
